Hello again, it`s been a while since my last post (I know, bad blogger!) but I have a good excuse, been busy designing projects for Kay Rutter for her Hougie book 4 and I`ve been in a box making mood.
While I was messing about making samples I decided to make a box for myself to keep all my lace in. The ribbon box that it was in was overflowing and my lace was getting squished so this is what I made. I was inspired by an old sewing box my gran had.
I used the largest nestie circle for each end of the box shape, leaving a 2cm space between the cuts and placing the dies over the edge of my cutting mats so that the full circle shape didn`t cut through. This enabled me to get the round ended shape for the box base and lid.
Excuse the blurry picture of my bottom !!
The paper I used is from "A Ladies Diary" from Graphic 45, I just love these papers, such good quality. I used the reverse side of the paper to decorate the lid. The paper on the handle is Bo Bunny double dot.
I had a lot of fun decorating the lid, I ransacked my embellishment boxes for anything sewingy I could find to chuck on the top.
The little wooden mannequin came from the Craft Den in Wisbech, the crochet lace flower is from Sir Stampalot as is the Hero Arts lace round the edge of the lid, the little clock, scissors and key dangling on the side came from the NEC but I cannot remember which stall it was and the flower buttons are SU.
It was a fiddly little project but I had a lot of fun creating it and all my vintage lace fits in without getting squished!!
I`ve had fun creating some new boxes and project for Kay, as soon as the book is published I`ll post them on here.
Thanks for looking in, bye for now and happy crafting xxx
